Privacy Policy

Local-First by Design

Cookie OS is a desktop application that runs entirely on your machine. Your AI agent, data, files, and conversations never leave your computer unless you explicitly choose to connect to an external API provider. We built Cookie OS around a local-first architecture because we believe your data belongs to you.

What Stays on Your Machine

• All chat conversations and agent interactions are stored locally in SQLite databases on your filesystem.
• Workspace files, skills, and agent configurations remain in your home directory (~/.openclaw/ and ~/.opencookie/).
• API keys you provide are stored locally in your app settings and are never transmitted to our servers.
• Kanban boards, reminders, and agent memory are persisted in local SQLite databases.
• The AI agent runs inside an isolated container on your machine with no external network exposure.

What We Collect

We collect minimal data to improve the product:

• Anonymous usage analytics: Feature usage patterns, session duration, and crash reports. These contain no personally identifiable information and no content from your conversations.
• License validation: When you activate a license key, we verify it against our licensing server. This transmits only the license key and a machine identifier.
• Update checks: Cookie OS periodically checks for new versions. This request contains your current version number and operating system.

Third-Party API Providers

When you configure an AI provider (such as OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, or OpenRouter), your prompts and agent interactions are sent directly from your machine to that provider's API. Cookie OS does not proxy, store, or inspect this traffic. Each provider's own privacy policy governs how they handle your data. We recommend reviewing your chosen provider's data retention and privacy practices.

Data Retention

Since your data lives on your machine, you have full control over retention. You can delete conversations, files, and databases at any time by removing the local directories. Uninstalling Cookie OS removes the application but preserves your data directories unless you manually delete them.

Children's Privacy

Cookie OS is not intended for use by children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as the product evolves. Significant changes will be communicated through the application's update notes. Continued use of Cookie OS after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
